TTR ribbons
Thermal transfer ribbons are used for printing on a wide range of materials as a medium in thermal transfer printers and are known by various names, such as ribbons, TTR, thermal transfer films, etc.
They are categorized into four basic groups based on the type of material being printed on:
WAX
WAX/RESIN
WAX/RESIN – NEAR EDGE
RESIN
Technical Specifications for Thermal Transfer Ribbons
We produce TTR ribbons in various colors and sizes, depending on the type of material being printed on or the self-adhesive labels (paper, plastic, textile, etc.) and the required durability of the print against various influences (abrasion, washing, solvents, high temperatures, weathering, and many others).
When choosing the right thermal transfer ribbon, the following parameters must be considered:
- Printer type
- Core size and type
- Winding direction and roll length
- Print material width
- Type of material being printed on (paper, plastic, textile, etc.)
Most commonly, TTR ribbons are wound on paper/plastic cores of 1” (25.4 mm) or 0.5” (12.5 mm).
The ribbons are supplied with an internal winding (IN), where the pigment is on the inside of the carrier film, or an external winding (OUT), where the pigment is on the outside of the carrier film, depending on the printer type.

Inner winding – IN
For example printers SATO, CAB, DATAMAX,
CITIZEN etc.
Outer winding – OUT
For example printers ZEBRA, CAB, TSC,
TOSHIBA TEC etc.
